Marriage isn’t the cure; it contains the cure.
Marriage isn’t the medicine. It’s the bottle that holds the medicine.
It’s how we are married, and what we do in marriage—the attitudes, the actions, the level to which we give ourselves over to the heart and soul of marriage—that determines how much benefit we get from marriage spiritually.
We are embarking on the Cherish Challenge, a time to learn together how we can truly cherish our spouses. It is my hope that couples would stand up and say, “If a marriage filled with love and cherishing is possible, I want to experience it.”
Let’s seek to raise the level of affection in our marriages. Let’s seek out the higher aspects of love to learn together what it means to create a cherishing marriage. It’s one thing to read a book or attend a weekend marriage conference; it’s another thing to spend some time thoughtfully applying the lessons from this book and being inspired by couples all over the world.
Let the cherishing begin!
