One of the three qualities I believe is most essential for a lifelong love is perseverance. Your spouse’s fallenness and weakness will, at times, try your patience. There may even be times when you wonder if it’s worth it to keep pursuing your spouse. Marriage is not a one-time decision: “I do.” That’s a wedding, not a marriage. A marriage is built on an ongoing proclamation, “I said I do and now I will.”
