Purity culture has received a good share of understandable pushback. Articles and even books (many books) have focused entirely on the damage caused by a perhaps well-intentioned but poorly executed message. What hasn’t gotten nearly as much pushback, surprisingly, is the ongoing negative impact of hook-up culture. British writer Louise Perry has written a gritty but compelling and persuasive book about the harm that the hook-up culture continues to perpetuate among those who unthinkingly adopt its false premises. Since this is such a long review, we’re making it the paid and free post this week. As always, I welcome your comments and feedback at the end.
